Franciacorta wineries

Iconic wineries in Franciacorta

The name Franciacorta has very ancient origins, in fact the term was coined as far back as 1277 in reference to the 'curtes francae' (the free courts exempt from duties or gabelle).
It is only since 1961, however, that we talk about what is now recognized as one of the most valuable Italian spumantes. It was in fact during that year that the creation of Guido Berlucchi came to light.

In Borgonato, around the fifties, Guido Berlucchi, from the aristocratic family of Lana de' Terzi, produced a white wine he called Pinot del Castello because the grapes were supplied by the vineyards of a small manor house owned by family.
However, the wine had little stability and decided to consult the winemaker Franco Ziliani, who had recently graduated from the Enological School of Alba. It was Ziliani who proposed to Berlucchi to create in Franciacorta a classic method that was based on the tradition French. The duo Ziliani- Berlucchi was joined by a third member: insurer Giorgio Lanciani, acquaintance and colleague of the second.
Guido Berlucchi & C. was born in 1955 and after six years of experimentation gave birth in 1961 the first three thousand bottles of Pinot di Franciacorta, an early version of the current Franciacorta on the market. To date Berlucchi is one of the points of reference for the sector, their Franciacorta are the history of Italian bubbles.
Among their most iconic creations, currently on the market are the famous '61 Berlucchi and the sophisticated Imperial Cuvée. Newer creation is their Franciacorta Palazzo Lana also available in the Extreme version.

To date, more than 50 years after the original creation of Berlucchi and Ziliani, Franciacorta DOCG is produced by many renowned wineries including:

Ca' del bosco
The winery was founded in 1964 by Annamaria Clementi acquiring a small hill house in Erbusco. I vineyards will be planted personally by Antonio Gandossi in 1968.
To date the Ca' del Bosco Cuvée prestige is the Franciacorta part of the Sea of representatives of the estate, on the market of the variant Rosè. So it is up to us to know what generalist consumers are going to him with the name of the winery. The highlight of the house, however, is the Franciacorta Annamaria Clementi also available in the Rosè variant.
Bellavista
The enterprising spirit of Vittorio Moretti is due to the birth of this winery. In 1976 the purchase of a few hectares of vineyard on Bellavista hill will kick off the extraordinary company reality today known worldwide. The Alma is their best-known Franciacorta, also available not dosed.
Again, like the Cuvèe Prestige of Ca' del Bosco, the name "Alma" is to many unknown consumers and it is customary to define it generically: Bellavista Brut. There are then many other renowned Franciacorta, from the eponymous Vittorio Moretti dedicated to the founder at the Edition Theatre at scale a particular tribute to the world of theater.
