Greco di Tufo Wineries
Iconic Greco di Tufo DOCG producers
The Greco di Tufo is one of the most renowned white wines of Campania, it is produced in the province of Avellino, and offers flavors of great personality and structure.
Over time there have been many wineries that have made the history of this denomination including the exceptional cellars Mastrobernardino and Feudi of San Gregorio. Greco di Tufo DOCG is a white that stands out for minerality and freshness, equipped with an excellent body and with strong aging skills.
Its origin is very ancient and, as the name itself says, it is a wine of Greek origin: over the centuries this vine has then found in Irpinia a particularly suitable soil, and it is in the province of Avellino that produces unique wines for aromas and intensity, where the flavor is exalted and correlated by a moderate acidity. In the pairings it is perfect with the sea cuisine, to try with a plate of spaghetti with clams or with a fish fry.
To date there are many Greco di Tufo DOCG wineries, below some of the most important.
Feudi di San Gregorio
There are not many wineries in Italy that can identify with a territory, its history and its tradition, as Feudi of San Gregorio identifies with Irpinia (in the province of Avellino). Founded in 1986, the Feudi winery of San Gregorio can now be taken as a reference to the wine renaissance of southern Italy.
One of their most renowned Greco di Tufo DOCG is definitely cutizzi, a warm and elegant wine, deep in its being so multifaceted. The Feudo Studi project then gave rise to several interpretations of the Greco di Tufo, using the best raw materials available, including Bussi, Laura and Ariella.
Mastroberardino
A winery of national importance, for some the very face of Campania and its unique charm, that of the Mastroberardino family is a winemaking reality that for generations has been able to combine the best technique and passion, large numbers and quality, innovation and tradition.
Their classic Greco di Tufo DOCG is an excellent exponent of the name, with a straw-yellow color, which on the nose expresses fruity aromas of apricot, peaches, cedar and almond followed by slight hints of sage. Their Greco di Tufo Novassera is another excellence, a white with a determined and decisive character.
Quintodecimo
An exemplary winery, founded by Luigi and his wife Laura, a reality that over the years has shown how good it can be achieved in the heart of Irpinia with vines such as Fiano di Avellino, the Greco di Tufo and the Taurasi.
Their Greco di Tufo Giallo d'Arles is produced with grapes from the eponymous vineyard located in Tuff, in the heart of the denomination. It is presented with an intense straw yellow color and on the nose expresses hints of apricot and apples.
Pietracupa
With about forty thousand bottles a year, Pietracupa has been a reality for generations that, year after year, continues to produce wines representative of the territory of Irpinia.
Their Greco di Tufo is a fresh and delicately scented Campania white wine with deep straw yellow with golden hues.
