Iconic producers of Barbaresco DOCG
The Barbaresco DOCG has very ancient origins, having even been mentioned by Tito Livio in the 'Roman History', and was revived in the late nineteenth century by Domizio Cavazza, professor and director of the Wine School of Alba. Its main characteristic is to be composed 100% of Nebbiolo, cultivated exclusively in the municipalities of Neive, Treiso and the eponymous Barbaresco, has an intense and characteristic smell.
In the mouth has a full and harmonious dry taste. With the use of DOCG Barbaresco, Piedmont Wine Producers are proud to offer the consumer a high-quality wine that has a unique story to tell: provenance, processing and characteristics that identify it in a well-defined territory.
To date there are many wineries producing Barbaresco DOCG, below some of the most important.
Gaja
A winery that needs no introduction, such is its history and its fame, that of Angelo Gaja is a signature that for years now represents the best not only of Piedmont wines, but of all Made in Italy if we talk about the wine scene. Gaja wines have become a true myth to this day: just think that the Barbaresco Gaja of 1985 has been defined by Wine Spectator as the best wine ever produced in Italy.
Among his best-known Barbaresco DOCG is certainly the Sorì San Lorenzo that comes from the selection of the best grapes of the prestigious vineyard San Lorenzo, even the Sorì Tildin is on the podium of the Barbaresco of gaja, a bottle that belongs to the excellence of Italian winemaking.

Founded in 1958, it now has 50 members with about 110 hectares of vineyards in Nebbiolo and controls most of the area's historic crus. The Producers of Barbaresco wine only Nebbiolo grapes, producing a Barbaresco DOCG from grapes from different vineyards in the area of origin.
Their Barbaresco DOCG classic is a cornerstone of the production of Barbaresco, one of the most important of these producers also the Barbaresco Reserve Asili. There are also a further multitude of renowned reserves, searchable on Other Remedies, to name a few: Montestefano Reserve, Montefico Reserve and Muncagota Reserve.
Bruno Giacosa
Bruno Giacosa's story starts from far, a history of sacrifices and great wines. During the Second World War, Bruno, the founder of the age of fifteen, left school and began working alongside his father Mario, in the cellar founded by his grandfather Carlo in 1900.
The Barbaresco DOCG most renowned of the winery is probably the Asili, composed of Nebbiolo grapes in purity from a single and historic vineyard of the municipality of the same name. The other spearhead of the winery is the Barbaresco Rabajà a wine of purity and inimitable class.
Giuseppe Cortese
Giuseppe Cortese's winery is located in Rabajà, in Barbaresco, a small village located in the heart of the Langhe, located at the top of a hill at the foot of which is the Tanaro River. The Cortese family, which has cultivated these vineyards for three generations, owns eight hectares of vineyards in the middle of Rabajà, one of the most popular for the production of Barbaresco, thanks to its favorable exposure to the South-West.
Giuseppe Cortese's Barbaresco DOCG Rabajà is one of those wines that, after trying it, is impossible to forget. One of those wines that marks time, which is not in any way scratched by the momentary fashions.
